Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays the Peace Room is open and available to students for support in the Guidance Office-8:30-9am and 11:30-2pm.
Well, we had our worst week yet with attendance. Freshmen hit our 91% zero days last week and for the first time this year, the seniors did not hit the 91% mark! The juniors have also taken over the lead for the best attendance, they are the only grade that is over 93%. Last week the juniors and seniors were here 91%+ 4 days, while the sophomores fell to 3 days.
Students if you need help with your class work or homework, After School Tutoring will begin on Monday, October 6th in Room 214. After School Tutoring is offered on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday each week from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Attention artists and graphic designers: The SHS PTO is looking for a new logo, and any SHS student can submit a drawing or graphic that represents parents, teachers and our school. Use your imagination and submit your design by October 27th. Think of this logo as one that could go on letterhead or on a tablecloth or poster. Submit your design to Mrs. Dorr or Dr. Leardi, and see either of them if you have questions. If your design is chosen, you will receive $75 in gift cards and a framed copy of your design.
Permission slips for the 2025 College Fair Field Trip are now available in the Guidance Office. The date of the field trip is October 8th. Students are responsible for their own transportation and must sign in to the Orr Building by 1:00 to be marked as Activity. The permission slip is due by Wednesday, October 8th at 8:30 A.M. to the Guidance Office. No late forms will be accepted and students must be passing all afternoon classes to attend.
Interested in dancing with the Scarlet Line for City 2026? The Scarlet Line will be having City tryouts this coming Wednesday and Thursday October 1&2 from 3:30-4:45 in the Commons. Tryout packets are in the main office!
The chess club will be meeting this friday in room 116.
"The new SHS Interact Club is having a Coat Drive until October 31.
Bring your new or gently used kids or adult coats and drop them in the box in front of the main office. Together we can ensure no one in our community faces the winter without warmth.

Model UN meets today after school until 4:00 in room 330.

The Springfield High School Girls Tennis Team traveled to Jacksonville High School yesterday and played well narrowly missing a victory with a 4-5 finish. In singles, Valentina Osgood, Madisyn Williams and Hayden Thongsithavong won, while Valentina Osgood/Madisyn WIlliams emerged victorious in doubles. In other action, the doubles teams of Annah Sharp/Caroline Scherschel, Taylor Ratts/Jackie Reed, Abigail Eldridge/Priya Sumant, Simone Dolan/Gianna Dolan, Bianca Barnes/Eva Abraham and Catherine Adoungbe/Annah Sharp claimed victories. Congratulations on a strong performance!
The girls swimming and diving team pulled together to pull off a win against Glenwood and SHG last night! Chloe Scheffler took first in 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle, Lila Martin got 2nd in the 200 IM, Tess O’Brien and Bella Petrone got 2nd and 3rd in diving, Abby Myers got first in the 100 butterfly, Natasha O’Brien and Mallory Leming got 2nd and 3rd in the 100 breaststroke. Lilly Allen teamed up with Abby Myers, Chloe Scheffler and Lila Martin for 2nd place finishes in the 200 free relay and 400 free relay. Congratulations on a great meet! The team takes on Edwardsville on Saturday.
The soccer team defeated Rochester 5-1 to remain undefeated in the CS8. Mayango Jallah, Maximus Pagliara, August Bilyeu, and Parker Hinds scored for the Senators.
We look forward to seeing our students and staff at our home football games! We look forward to seeing our students and staff at our home football games! But, we want to remind you of the code of conduct. The Code of Conduct and the guidelines of the student
handbook apply to all students while on District 186 property, adjacent property or engaged in
school-sponsored activities. Any misconduct before, during or after the game will be handled by
the administration at the student’s school and will result in consequences.
Please note that students who are suspended and/or expelled are not permitted to attend
school events, including games. If a suspended or expelled student purchases a ticket and is
admitted by mistake, they will be required to leave, and no refunds will be issued.
All spectators are expected to remain seated during games. Anyone found standing or roaming
for an extended period of time will be asked to sit in the stands, failure to comply will result in
being removed from the stadium.
Also failing to abide by the football stadium expectations may result in you being escorted from
the stadium. If you are escorted from the stadium you will not be allowed to return to future
games.
No unaccompanied minors will be allowed entry into games. All K-8th grade students should be
with an adult who is responsible for their actions and monitors their movement during the
games. They should be sitting watching the games and limit walking around unless using the
restroom or visiting the concession stand. Students can not attend without an adult - they will
not be allowed entry.
Football games will conclude around 9:15 p.m., announcements will be made for students to
call for their ride at the start of 4th quarter at every game. Please make sure your ride, if
needed, is at the stadium to pick you up at that time.
We want to cheer on our teams, have great District 186 spirit and have a good time. Thank you
for assisting the Administration and the Springfield Police Department in this manner.
